Guy Sargent – A Personal View of London
From an ongoing project by the London based photographer:
I enjoy walking the streets of central London because it is so stimulating. The diversity of people, the history, noise and constant change. So many forms of culture available. History plays a huge role in the making of photographs for me and London is packed with it. For example, a walk down Jermyn Street takes in a gallery which often displays stunning original paintings from great artists. Jermyn Street, London 2011 shows a portrait of King Charles II by Sir Peter Lely – Paintings like this are historically very important. A fifteen to twenty minute walk south east from here takes you to Whitehall where his Father King Charles I was executed, the very building from which he was marched to his death.
