Ian McMillan – Visiting Speaker

The popular poet, broadcaster, commentator and programme maker, will be joining students from MA Animation and MA Graphic Arts, for their collaborative project titled ‘Words Home’ on the 21st February. The project is about exploring the power of the written and spoken word.

When not going pink in the face and dancing with wiggly lines, he can be heard on BBC radio, or on tour with The Ian McMillan Orchestra. His poetry is widely published. As well as performance work, he has also conducted workshops with students, teachers, policy makers, local authority officers, politicians and business communities, exploring language and communication. We are extremely pleased to invite Ian to the Department of Creative Industries, UWE Bristol.

‘If there’s a more engaging presence on the radio than Barnsley poet Ian McMillan and a more entertaining show than Radio 3’s The Verb, then I don’t know it’. (Stuart Maconie, Radio Times)
